Special Education

The Windham School District ensures that all children who have been identified with disabilities, are identified, located, and evaluated. The children that receive state funded services from the District must be between the ages of 2.5 and 21, reside in the District, and are in need of special education and related services. This applies to all children with disabilities including, highly mobile children (such as migrant and homeless children), children placed in homes for children, healthcare facilities, or state institutions, and children who are suspected of being eligible under IDEA. In addition, this applies to those children attending approved, non-public private schools within the geographic boundaries of the District.

The Windham School District is committed to providing students that are identified with special needs specialized instruction and other key resources. We will work with your child to focus on his/her strengths as well as his/her challenges. You’ll be an important member of the team that decides what he/she needs to make progress in school.
